Above: It was a day of very mixed and contrasting fortunes for two of England's stars. England coach Mark Downes pays Will Raison (left) a visit on D18 to check his progress. William came second in his section with 3.400kg unlike 4x World Champ Alan Scotthorne (right) who found himself at the wrong end of E section where the fish were few and far between. This was one match Alan was sure to want to forget.Left: E13 was no better either for top Hungarian Attila Nagy who could manage 1.200kg for 12 points. The Hungarian team in general did not fair much better.Below: In complete contrast was Attila's next door neighbour, Italy's Ferruccio Gabba, who tipped 5.520kg onto the scales for a third in section. This was the general pattern repeated across the entire match length, with fish held up in pockets... draw one of these pockets and your in luck. |

| Above: Like many other teams the Italian's used Cralusso Torpedo's almost exclusively, here's Italian Ferruccio Gabba's impressive array of floats.
Left: One of the Italian coaches, Adriano Fumagalio, sits behind Ferruccio on day one and monitors his progress. Ferruccio had a brilliant championship eventually finishing in the Bronze medal position behind England's Will Raison and his fellow countryman, Giancarlo Armiraglio. Below: Luxembourg's Mike Thinnes was two pegs down from ythe Italian on E16 and won the section with 8.100kg, the second highest weight of the two day championship. His team finish the tournament in 8th place overall, an commendable acheivement given the size of their country. Mike finished the two days with a combined total of 10 points for 13th individual place. |

| Below: Ireland's Robert Hulme, a regular campaigner for his country. Rob sat next to Mike Thinnes and managed a respectable 8 points for his 1.750kg. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Below: Special delivery.... boxes of recently arrived Cralusso's could be seen along parts of the match length. Here Frances' Christophe Gazannois stores his boxes of Cralusso's (empty I assume!) behind his taped area. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Below: Christophe looks as though he's going for the smaller residents of the River Vah judging by the length of his top section. He was the best placed angler in his team, finishing in overall 18th position for the two days which summed up a poor championship for the mighty French side, who finished in 5th place. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Above: Marian Rybnikar from home side Slovakia, has company from his coach but can't make the visit pay off... he finished down in 16th place with just 830 grams. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Above right: One of Poland's stars, Zbigniew (Ziggy) Milewski was one of his team's top performers, finishing day one with 7.050kg to take second place in E section. Ziggy went on to finish the tournament in 7th place just behind his teammate Tadeusz Zalewski and help Poland to a well deserved Team Gold.
Below: England's Alan Scotthorne tops up in a vain attempt to bring his peg to life. Unfortunately it wasn't Alan's year and he suffered two bad draws which left him lanquishing in 73rd overall place for the weekend... perhaps his worse result ever! |

| Above & below: Germany's Thomas Pruchnowski, on D23, hooks a good fish and takes it softly, softly, in the strong flow. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Below left & right: Thomas gradually brings the fish, a good bream, slowly to the waiting landing net. The German had a very good and consistent tournament, finishing both days with 3 points, which placed him in overall 5th spot and helped Germany finish in 4th place, one of their best positions for several years.
