Hi everyone... My apologises for delay, I've had little time to work on this.....
...well the Europeans are nearly three weeks old and the story is quite simple and brief. This match was all about feeding strategies and a few peggy areas... if you got it wrong you caught lots of catfish... if you got it right then you caught more bream. The French drew a blinder on day one and headed the field by a clear 16 POINTS with Belgium second on 32. England threw away a top five spot by putting too many joker and casters in the feed. One of the pre-tournament favourites Italy, were totally outgunned in all departments and finished down in the embarrassing position of 15th.
But it was Belgium who were quietly working on that championship win. They'd done there home work with the feed and came back strong on day two, taking the high class field apart with a blistering performance by their team who scored another 3 section wins. In fact had one of their anglers on each of the two days not scored badly, then this story would have been more along the lines of a rout instead !!!
France could do little to stem the final Belgian onslaught and finished down in 6th place, however they'd done enough on day one to secure the Silver medal, while England stormed back from an 8th place on day one, with a highly commendable second on day two, to grab team bronze.
Such was the Belgians dominance that they also took the top three individual medals with their 2004 World Champion Guido Nullens taking the individual gold. This is something no other angler has ever done before... hold the two crown at the same time... some feat!!!
Because of the delay in bringing you a full story, I've decided to give the brief resumé above and just add several Picture Galleries ... these will be uploaded on an 'can do basis'... in other words, I will do them as quickly as possible, so keep tuning in. I'll start of by uploading photos of the opening ceremony then bring you day one and then day two photos. These galleries will be large, as I have several hundred shots available to me and I will put as many as possible 'on site' so please be patient... I hope you all enjoy them.
