Pikey's 2nd Knock-Up at Willow Park

1st June 2005

The second instalment of Pikey's attracted 30 with some making the trip up from 'cider' country to practice for the forthcoming 'SuperCup'.
Top dog on the day was ex-canal ace Andy Gregory who's peg on the small lake was solid with skimmers, hybrids, roach and others!

There was a good 'crack' on the bank, especially from Andy... see pic!

We also include below, a new caption competition because I found another of our special 2004 WC Polo shirts. We think a caption might be a hard one to come up with... but we'll leave that to you guys out there.
As always my decision will be final and entries close at end of July (this year!).
Only MA.com registered Forum members are allowed entry... so register first eh!

Right: "Look what I caught everyone" says an excited Andy Gregory. "Beats 1lb 2oz 8dr on the canal any day".
Below: Andy nets another skimmer on his way to the top!

more of Andy later....

Arriving a little late (as usual), I managed to catch the drama unfolding on Middle Lakes peg 21 with Mike Jameson. Mike had latch onto a 'lump', or was it the other way round? and had been playing this fish for about 40 minutes with another 20 to go. Well the camera recorded everything as it happened below... so if your watching 'Omega' then sit back and enjoy the thrill again!

... the fish, having been on for a while, is now starting to get really p***ed and shoots left, then right, then left again.... (below) then right, then starts to make a beeline for the shore....

... still going for the shore ...

... getting closer .... quick, net it .... too late (right)

... maybe it's better on the left side sir !

... quick, while it's it's asleep, drag it in... it's coming... coming...

GOTCHA... a 13lb 4oz beauty

Mike, (a self-confessed 'don't-do-big-fish' angler) had played the maniac for well over an hour and a quarter and just managed to net it with 30 seconds to spare in his alloted time after the whistle had gone... You know, I thought it was much bigger than that... must have shrunk in the water !!!

Below: It's always a good idea to keep in with the organiser by taking his picture with a good fish, unfortunately our Pikey was having none of it, prefering to get some 'swinging small fish to hand' practice in before the start of the canal season... The smile says it all !!!

Below: Continuing our previous theme of angling 'crack', our well endowed winner, Andy, shows us the true meaning of the word.

and now for something definately different...

Caught on an off-guard moment, MA.com's tarnished leader...

NO CAPTIONS TOO OBSCENE OR LIBELLOUS, OTHERWISE YOU'LL BE DISQUALIFIED.
Competition closes end of June 2005.
Email me your caption and I'll pick out the best one and publish some of the results after June.
My decision is final.
