U22’s & U18’s England Youth Teams for 2008 Announced
Following the England Youth trials which took place at well known Barston Fishery this weekend, the joint team managers Mark Downes and Steve Sanders chose the top young anglers in the country to go on and represent their country on the 26th to 27th July.

The U18 Sensas Team England which last year had a superb championship winning sliver in the team classification and of course Matt Godfrey becoming individual World Champion.

Budding hopefuls made the journey to Barston Fishery from all points of the compass to show off their skills. The lucky ones will have a crack at glory at the end of July in Belgium.
Once again Matt aged 17 who hails from Sheffield will have the chance to continue his winning ways. Matt Derry aged 17 from Walsall has also won his place, as has Jake Marshall from Croydon aged 16. The final two anglers to be selected are Connor Barlow aged just 15 from Droylsden and Danny Huxley aged 17 from angling hotspot Doncaster. The U22 team will be hoping to improve on their 8th placed finish last year in the Czech Republic and have selected another strong squad in the pursuit of the medals. The team consists of Ricky Hines aged 19 from Wigan and the highest placed angler in last years championships Callum Dicks aged 20 from Bristol. There will be a strong East Midlands feel to the team with Cameron Hughes aged 19 and Eric Yeomans aged 18 both from Derby and Jonathan Taylor aged 21 from Lincoln.

Current U18 World Champ Matt Godfrey was once more showing off his undoubted abilities in the Youth trials at Barston... as if he wouldn't get selected!
Mark Downes, Joint Team Manager commented, “Hopefully it will be a good venue as it was a decade ago where we successfully won both gold in the team and individual event. Skimmer bream and bream will figure in most catches and bloodworm will be the main bait.  These teams are clearly equipped and all shone on the recent youth trials held at Barston in Warwickshire”.

NFA International Events Director, Dick Clegg adds, “Like every year we are full of expectations for this years World Youth Championships. Both teams are extremely strong and full of talented anglers and I believe once again they'll bring home the medals”.
