A change from the normal tabard numbering system saw this novel 'sticky-back-plastic' approach by the organisers. The downside being that they sometimes slip down into other areas, or perhaps the team Austria angler could reach round far enough with his arm!

Croatian Dejan Vondrak had started day two with 1pt and was inline for a podium slot. He drew B19 and caught the second highest total of fish (168) to finish with 4pts. Like many of the other east european teams, Croatia's approach revolved around small fish and it served them well on the final day as they finished in 6th place. Shame about day one!

Polish star Adam Niemiec was his country's joint highest points scorer with and overall total of 4pts. Like many of his team, small fish were the key to unlocking a podium position... and unlock it they did with a comprehensive victory over the home side and France.

Adam's constant feeding involved plenty of what we in the UK call 'slop'. It also demands a bowl of water to keep cleaning off the surplus groundbait, a good tip for all those not to familiar with 'bleak-bashing'!

Austria had a mixed tournament. Having scored a surprise 28pts for a 5th place on day one, they threw all that good work away with a mediocre performance on day two. Kurt Hafner was on C20 and fell just under 100 grams behind England's Steve Gardener into 15th place with 939gr.

It was really good to see some of the less well known names in the Championships take some honours. Petar fished superbly in his section to record a narrow victory over Petr by just a mere 17 grams, taking 249 fish... more than anyone else in the WHOLE of B section.

Croat Dejan Vondrak was sitting with 1pt going into the final day, but a draw in an area in B section with not many bleak rather spoilt his chance of individual glory. It was still a good performance by him and the rest of his team to rise from 17th place on day one, to a credible final 12th place.

England's Des Shipp with 3.216kgs of hard earned small fish for a 7th in section D. Des was not happy at the start because he found a major snag at 9-10 metres which would have no doubt created problems for him... you could actually see the bubbles rising as the river ran over the snag!
